The Attainable Fertility Foundation’s grant program is designed to expand access to sperm cryopreservation for individuals facing medical or life circumstances that may impact their future fertility.
As a newly formed organization, we are currently in the process of building and funding this program with the goal of supporting patients at a critical moment—when fertility preservation decisions must be made quickly and often under financial strain. Our mission is to ensure that the ability to preserve fertility is not limited by cost.

Our grant program is intended to help offset the costs associated with sperm freezing (cryopreservation). Depending on funding availability, grants may cover some or all of the following:
Initial consultation and fertility preservation counseling
Semen collection and analysis
Laboratory processing and cryopreservation
Required infectious disease testing
Storage fees (for a defined period)
Our goal is to reduce the upfront financial burden so individuals can move forward with preservation without delay.
At this time, grant funds may only be applied to services provided within the United States.

The grant program is intended for individuals whose fertility may be at risk due to medical treatment or other life circumstances, and for whom cost presents a barrier to care. This may include, but is not limited to:
Individuals undergoing cancer treatment (e.g., chemotherapy, radiation, surgical intervention)
Patients with conditions requiring therapies that may impair fertility (e.g., CAR-T or gene therapy requiring lymphodepletion)
Individuals pursuing gender-affirming care
Active-duty service members preparing for deployment
Others facing time-sensitive situations where fertility preservation is recommended
Final eligibility criteria will be determined as the program is launched.

The cost of sperm cryopreservation can vary depending on the provider, but generally includes an initial fee for collection, analysis, and freezing, as well as ongoing storage costs. Initial services typically range from approximately $500 to $1,500, with annual storage fees of around $200 to $500.
Our grants are designed to help offset these costs. Grant amounts generally range from $200 to $2,500, with most awards expected to fall between $500 and $1,500, depending on individual need and available funding. Grants are typically structured to cover a meaningful portion of the initial cryopreservation process and, in many cases, a defined period of storage.
Storage is typically arranged on an annual basis. Individuals may have the opportunity to reapply for support for additional storage in future years based on funding availability and changes in their circumstances.
In some cases, individuals may require alternative forms of fertility preservation or additional procedures, such as electroejaculation (EEJ), testicular sperm extraction (TESE), or testicular tissue freezing. These procedures can be more complex and costly, often exceeding several thousand dollars. While our grants are not intended to fully cover these costs, they may help offset a portion of expenses for eligible individuals based on additional factors, such as age and clinical circumstances.

Grant funds will be distributed directly to participating care providers. This approach helps ensure that funds are used specifically for fertility preservation services and allows us to streamline the process for patients during a time-sensitive moment.

While fertility preservation can take many forms, our current focus is on sperm freezing. We do not currently provide support for egg freezing, embryo creation, or IVF-related programs.
